PEMBUATAN ECO-ENZYME: SOLUSI PENANGANAN SAMPAH ORGANIK PADA LEVEL RUMAH TANGGA

MAKING ECO-ENZYME: A SOLUTION TO HANDLING ORGANIC WASTE AT THE HOUSEHOLD LEVEL

Abstract

Produksi sampah rumah tangga di wilayah kota Tangerang Selatan terus mengalami peningkatan jumlah setiap tahunnya seiring dengan bertambahnya laju pertumbuhan penduduk, dan sampah organik menempati proporsi terbesar dari total produksi sampah tersebut. Salah satu cara efektif dalam mengatasi permasalahan sampah rumah tangga yakni, dengan memotong alur distribusi sampah yang menuju Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) melalui pembuatan eco-enzyme. Eco-enzyme adalah ekstrak cairan yang dihasilkan dari fermentasi sisa-sisa sayuran atau buah-buahan yang dicampur dengan substrat gula merah. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat di wilayah RT 04, RW 09, Pondok Ilir, Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan Banten melalui praktik pelatihan pembuatan eco-enzyme. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi 1) pembentukan struktur organisasi kelompok penggerak, 2) pemberian penyuluhan tentang eco-enzyme, 3) pelatihan dan pendampingan pembuatan eco-enzyme, 4) monitoring pembuatan eco-enzyme, dan 5) pendampingan panen eco-enzyme. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan tentang pemanfaatan sisa-sisa bahan sayuran dan buah-buahan yang sudah tidak dikonsumsi di lingkungan rumah tangganya untuk dijadikan eco-enzyme. Cairan ini dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pembersih serba guna, pupuk, perbaikan kualitas udara, dan pemanfaatan lainnya di kehidupan sehari-hari.

ABSTRACT


The production of household waste in the city area of South Tangerang continues to increase every year in line with the increasing rate of population growth, and organic waste occupies the largest proportion of the total waste production. One effective way to deal with household waste problems is to cut the waste distribution channel to the Final Disposal Site (FDS) through the manufacture of eco-enzymes. Eco-enzyme is a liquid extract produced from the fermentation of vegetable or fruit residue mixed with brown sugar as a substrate. This Community Service Activity aims to empower the community in the area of RT 04, RW 09, Pondok Ilir, Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan Banten through practical training on making eco-enzymes. The implementation method includes: 1) forming the organizational structure of the driving group; 2) providing counseling about eco-enzymes; 3) training and mentoring for eco-enzyme production, 4) monitoring for eco-enzyme production, and 5) providing eco-enzyme harvesting assistance. The results of the activity show that the community has acquired knowledge and skills regarding the use of vegetable and fruit leftovers that are no longer consumed in their household environment to be used as eco-enzymes. This liquid can be used as a multi-purpose cleaner, fertilizer, air quality improvement agent, and for other purposes in everyday life.
