Abstract

ABSTRACT

Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is often unfamiliar to the general public, even though VCO has various benefits for health and economic development. Community service in the form of training in making virgin coconut oil (VCO) is carried out to assist the community in processing coconut, which produces products to improve health and community skills. This community service activity is carried out to prevent diseases that generally occur in the community, such as cholesterol obesity, and develop community skills in processing coconut into products with high economic value. Based on the research results, VCO has good properties to increase the body's immunity and prevent obesity and cholesterol. In addition, the easy availability of coconut makes this a good potential to be developed as a community economic empowerment. The training and socialization of VCO production was conducted in Cilembang Village, Cihideung District, Tasikmalaya City, West Java. As a result of this VCO-making training, the community is very enthusiastic to gain new knowledge and valuable skills about processing coconut into health products in the form of VCO and high-value products for community economic development.
